Assistive Devices Distributed to Beneficiaries in Kohima

Kohima District administration organized a distribution event for senior citizens and people with disabilities. This program took place on August 17, 2026, and provided equipment to 671 people. This support reached 27 individuals through the ADIP Scheme and 644 through the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana. The total value of the items given out was about ₹62.24 lakh.

Support items distributed

The equipment provided included 390 wheelchairs, 500 walking sticks, 120 walkers, and 100 hearing aids. Other items like crutches and knee braces were also given to those in need. Advisor Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome attended the event. He noted that community support is very important to help every citizen. He also asked officials to improve services at the local level and coordinate better between departments. Ongoing distribution is happening at Chiephobozou, Jakhama, and the District Social Welfare Office in Kohima. This is for people who were checked between July 1 and July 6, 2026.
