Annapurna Bhandar Benefit Disputes in West Bengal

Political tension exists in West Bengal about Annapurna Bhandar scheme. Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee raised concerns that eligible women are not getting the monthly ₹3000 cash benefit. She says caste and religion influence who gets the money.

Official response on distribution

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari said 1.45 crore people already received money. The government is checking beneficiary lists to make sure only eligible people get support. The administration launched a dedicated portal for people to file complaints if they did not get benefits or to report someone who is not eligible. Mr. Adhikari said 19.20 lakh Muslim people successfully received payments under the current system.
