Skill Up-Gradation with Job and Placement (SUJOP) Scheme is a state scheme of Himachal Pradesh that gives skill training and job placement support to people from at-risk groups such as persons with disabilities, widowed women and former residents of care homes. The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Himachal Pradesh, launched the scheme on 27th October 2016 and it continues to help eligible residents of the state.

The scheme works by tying up with recognized training centres and training service providers. These centres train the selected candidates and then help them get jobs in industrial units. The main aim is to close the gap between skill training and actual employment for people who often find it hard to get work.

Skill Up-Gradation with Job and Placement (SUJOP) Scheme - Introduction

Under SUJOP, the department picks training centres through a State Level Committee. These centres must have a tie-up with industrial or service sector units so that at least 70% of the trained candidates get absorbed. The training runs for a minimum of three months and can go up to two years, based on the course.

The scheme gives priority to people with 40% or more disability, destitute or deserted women, widows, former inmates of Bal-Balika Ashrams and Nari Sadans, and candidates from Scheduled Castes, Other Backward Classes and minority communities. Candidates are chosen on a first come first serve basis within these priority groups.
