India’s three Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) are inviting online applications for setting up of fuel Retail Outlets (RO) at 23,946 locations in 5 states. These 3 OMCs are Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL) & Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL). Applications are available at petrolpumpdealerchayan.in for Rajasthan, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram & Madhya Pradesh.
People can apply online for HPCL, BPCL & IOCL petrol pump dealership in any of these 5 states at any specified location. The last date to submit the online registration / login for Retail Outlets is 12 January 2019. The invitations had previously missed expansion round due to state elections.
Selection of Petrol Pump Dealers would be done through draw of lots or bidding process depending upon the type of retail sites.
OMCs have invited application forms for 9,647 retail outlet dealerships in Rajasthan, 7,318 dealerships in Madhya Pradesh, 3,507 in Telangana, 3,347 in Chhattisgarh and 127 in Mizoram totalling to 23,946 locations. To cement their market leadership and expand their footprint in other geographical areas of country, oil firms in November 2018 had invited application to setup 55,649 retail outlets in 30 states / UTs. Out of these, around 26,982 dealerships were offered by Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), 15,802 Bharat Petroleum Dealerships and 12,865 by Hindustan Petroleum (HPCL).
The last date to submit applications for 30 states & UTs ended on 24 December 2018. The selection of dealers will be done through draw of lots and bidding process as per the type of retail outlet site. Till date, HPCL received applications for 95% locations, BPCL received applications for 97% locations and IOC received applications for 92% of locations in November 2018. In total, the 3 OMCs have offered more than 79,500 (55,649 + 23,946) RO dealerships across 35 states & UTs.
In India, there are total 63,674 ptrol and diesel retail outlets and 3 govt. owned OMCs account for 90% of these. In the private sector, Nayara Energy tops the list with 4,895 pumps, Reliance Industries has 1,400 and Royal Dutch Shell has 116 retail outlets.
As per the existing petrol and diesel retail outlets, there are 7,473 RO in Uttar Pradesh, 5,970 in Maharashtra, 5,388 in Tamilnadu, 4,476 in Rajasthan, 4,214 in Karnataka, 4,025 in Gujarat, 3,711 in Madhya Pradesh, 3,427 in Punjab, 2,862 in Haryana, 2,626 in Telangana, 2,695 in Bihar, 2,333 in West Bengal and 2,100 in Kerala.
India adds around 17,481 petrol and diesel outlets in past 6 years across the country which is growing at an annual rate of 5.61%. All 3 OMCs offers setting up of maximum number of fuel retail outlets in Rajasthan (9,647), Uttar Pradesh (9,027), Madhya Pradesh (7,318), Maharashtra (6,647), Karnataka (4,974), Gujarat (4,413) and Chhattisgarh (3,347).
