Nai Raahein Nai Manzilein Scheme in HP to Identify Unexplored Tourist Places

Himachal Pradesh govt. has launched Nai Raahein Nai Manzilein Scheme to diversify tourism. Under this scheme, the state govt. of HP will identify unexplored and untapped tourist destinations. Nai Raahein Nai Manzilein scheme will promote tourism in these tourist places located across the countryside particularly focusing on rural areas. The total budgetary allocation of Nai Rahen Nai Manzil Scheme is Rs. 50 crore.

What is HP Nai Raahein Nai Manzilein Scheme 2024

CM Jai Ram Thakur said that Himachal Pradesh govt. has initiated a new programme Nai Raahein Nai Manzilein to identify, develop unexplored and untapped tourist places in the state. CM mentioned that out of total budget allocation of Rs. 50 crore under this programme, over Rs. 18.65 crore have been spent till 8 July 2020.

Chanshal area of Shimla district was being developed as a ski destination under this project. A proposal of ropeway/ski lift, restaurant, camping site and wayside amenities were proposed under this project. Bir Billing in Kangra district and Janjehli in Mandi district were being developed under Nai Raahein Nai Manzilein Scheme as paragliding and eco tourism destination respectively. Pong reservoir was being developed as a water sports destination under this project.

Announcement of Nayi Raahein Nayi Manzilein Scheme

CM Jai Ram Thakur has made announcement of Nayi Raahein Nayi Manzilein Scheme while presiding over the review meeting of Himachal Pradesh Tourism Department. HP govt. will select circuits for infrastructure development and will carry out various developmental works in these circuits under Nai Rahen Nai Manzil Scheme.

In addition, govt. will develop one particular destination in every selected circuit as an ideal and unique tourist destination. This will attract tourists fro different places which in turn will diversify tourism.

Himachal Pradesh Nai Raahein Nai Manzilein Scheme Circuits

Tourism Dept. has prepared 9 circuits under Nai Raahein Nai Manzilien Scheme. The names of these 9 circuits are as follows:-

  • Jogindernagar-Barot-Kothi Kohar-Rajgungja-Bir-Billing
  • Sundernagar-Chail Chowk-Kamru Nag-Shikari Devi-Janjheli
  • Shimla-Khara Pathar-Rohru-Sandasu-Larot-Chanshal-Dodra Kwar
  • Dhauladhar Circuit
  • Buddhist Circuit
  • Bhakra-Bilaspur-Sundernagar-Jogindernagar-Pong Dam
  • Solan-Habban-Rajgarh-Shillai
  • Manali-Rohtan-Tandi-Udaipur-Killar
  • Narkanda-Baghi-Khadrala-Chini (Kalpa)-Pangi Circuit

A committee of Tourism, PWD, Forests, Language, Art and Culture Officers will make a visit to the selected circuits. This committee will propose the activities which needs to be carried out in these circuits after consulting the local panchayats and other stakeholders.

HP govt. will carry out various developmental activities in these unexplored and untapped tourist places to diversify tourism. Infrastructure development and other facilities will be the primary focus. These activities are as follows:-

  • Street Paths
  • Solid Waste Improvement
  • Walking Trails
  • Beautification of Temples
  • Landscaping
  • Sarais
  • Community Halls
  • Trekkers Hostel
  • Roads Widening
  • Signals & Traffic Directions
  • Parkings
  • Lighting & Dustbins

The state govt. will encourage Home Stays through private parties, Nature Walks, Eco-Trails, Treks, Hikes, Trips to Orchards etc. CM mentioned that this would also generate employment opportunities by way of promotion of local cuisines, folk artist, local artisans, tour guides, eco-guides, adventure guides etc.
