Narendra Modi Government is all set to roll out the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna – Gramin on 24 April. The government has drawn up the list of beneficiaries based on SECC 2011 data. The list is however will be verified at the gram sabha level.
The government will make the list of beneficiaries public in each gram Sabha on April 24 as part of BR Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary celebrations.
Narendra Modi Government has already allocated Rs. 15,000 Crores to Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin. The financial assistance payout has also been increased from Rs. 75000/- to more than Rs. 1.2 Lakh. The area of the homes has also been increased to 25 Sq.mt. from 22 Sq.mt.
As per SECC data, 13% or 2.37 crore of rural houses have only one room, kuccha walls and kuccha roof. Under the scheme, the government has set a target of constructing about 3 Crore homes in rural areas by the year 2022.
The PM Awas Yojana – Gramin will also be linked to Swachch Bharat Abhiyan to ensure toilets in every home, with an additional assistance of Rs. 12,000/- per household.
The beneficiaries of the PM Awas Yojana – Gramin will be done based on 14 social and economic parameters including education, skills, housing, employment, health, nutrition, water, sanitation, social and gender mobilisation, and entitlement.
People with the ownership of motorised vehicle or boat, more than 2.5 acres of irrigable land, kisan credit card with over Rs. 50,000/- credit limit, landline phone and income tax payee status in case of Govt. employee will be excluded from the scheme.
PM Awas Yojana – Urban is already being implemented and lakhs of houses has already been sanctioned under the scheme.
