Central govt. has announced the launch of National Transport Card as a part of its national common mobility plan. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has announced this ATM Like One Nation One Card concept while presenting her first ever Budget for FY 2019 in the parliament. The National Transport Card India can be used for various modes of transport across the country. This ATM like card can be used for Pan India travel through railways, roadways, metros and will ease the mobility for people in the country.
All the people who use multiple modes of transport to travel on a daily basis would be hugely benefited from National Transport Card. The other major decisions includes making of petrol costlier, more tax on super rich, housing relief to middle class and making PAN and Aadhaar card interchangeable.
The main focus of the Narendra Modi led central govt. is to turn India into a 5 trillion dollar economy in the next few years.
National Transport Card India – ATM Like One Nation One Card
All the customers would be able to use this single card for making payments across all segments which may include:-
- Metro fare
- Bus travel
- Suburban railways
- Toll taxes
- Parking charges
- Withdrawal of Money
- Smart city
- Retail shopping
The service area feature of this National Transport Card India supports operator specific applications such as monthly passes, season tickets.
How will National Transport Card (NTC) Works
The stored value on National Transport Card (NTC) supports offline transaction across all travel needs with minimal financial risk to involved stake-holders. All the consumers would be able to pay multiple transport charges through RuPay Card. People would be able to pay parking, bus, railway and cab tariffs using this NTC card.
FM also announced to open waterways for cargo transportation to assist in de-congestion of roadways and railways. These waterways will ease the burden on both these transport mediums. However due to lack of indigenous solution provider, there is still a problem in implementation of Automatic Fare Collection System (AFC) in India.
