The state government of Karnataka has announced to construct 1,00,000 homes for the urban poor in Bengaluru city. The government has given the title the scheme “Chief Minister’s 1 Lakh Bengaluru Housing Scheme” for urban poor. Earlier, the govt. has assured the people of the state that their government will construct a total of 7,00,000 homes. Out of which this total, about 6,00,00 in rural areas and 1,00,000 in Bengaluru city will construct the homes.
Although, the government has informed that they gave the approval this housing scheme 0n 29 September. In addition, they will soon release the date of tenders bidding for the implementation of the scheme. This project will be completed in next 24 months. The government will spend Rs. 5500 crore on the project.
The benefit of the housing scheme is for those people who have been residing in Bengaluru for over five years but do not have any home and living in slum areas and those are falling below the poverty line. The beneficiary will be shortlisted by the government and they get a home in three – storey buildings.
Subsidy for Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme
Below given the details of subsidy which will be provided to the beneficiary of the housing scheme:-
- The cost of each house is Rs. 5.50 lakh.
- The subsidy of Rs. 2.7 lakh for the citizen of general category.
- In addition, the citizen of scheduled caste and scheduled tribe category will get Rs. 3.7 lakh.
- Moreover, the beneficiary is also eligible to apply for loans for the remaining amount in the bank of state.
As per the released notice, the government will acquire around 1,100 acres of land in the state for the construct of these houses. However, the government has already carried out the process to ascertain the several locations and some 431 acres of land have got approval for the construction of houses.
However, the state govt. will provide 80% of the housing complexes to the BPL families those who are residing in the limits of BBMP. The remaining to the beneficiaries who are residing in the Bengaluru Metropolitan Region. This housing scheme will target economically and weaker section of the society. They will be eligible to avail the benefit of the government scheme.
