The state government of Telangana has announced a new free lunch scheme for intermediate students in the state. The announcement of the free lunch scheme was made by the Telangana Minister for Education Kadiam Srihari on Saturday, 4th February.
As per the announcement, the intermediate students in the state would be provided free lunch starting from the coming academic year under the scheme.
The state government has set aside the budget for the implementation of the free lunch scheme for intermediate students. The students studying in 444 junior colleges would be served free lunch under the scheme. There are about 2 Lakh intermediate students which will be benefited by the scheme.
The scheme is applicable only for the intermediate students studying in the government junior colleges across the state. The students studying in private colleges would be included or not under the scheme is still uncertain.
The scheme will help the poor poor students get a healthy lunch for free and contribute to their overall development. The scheme will also encourage more students getting enrolled in the government junior colleges across the state.
