HP Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) – 112 Number

This event has started of a single number based 112 emergency services which will get connected to Police, Fire, Health and other helplines through an Emergency Response Centre. All these services will remove the need for citizens to remember multiple helpline numbers in case of any emergency. Under ERSS project, 1 Emergency Response Centre (ERC) has been established in Shimla along with 12 District Command Centers (DCCs) to cover the entire state.

The newly setup Emergency Response Centre is now integrated with various services like Police (100), Fire (101), Health (108) and Women helpline (1090) services. This will ensure emergency services through a single emergency mobile number 112. The service also includes 112 India mobile app which is integrated with panic button of smartphones and ERSS state website. This would provide ease to citizens to avail immediate assistance in case of any emergency.

To increase the effectiveness of emergency response system, the ERC is also integrated with location based services which is to be provided by the telecom service providers. Moreover, to ensure safety of women, a SHOUT feature has also been introduced in 112 India mobile app. This feature will enable immediate assistance from registered volunteers in the vicinity apart from assistance from ERC. SHOUT feature will remain exclusively available for women.

The 112 India mobile app is going to be subsequently rolled out in all states & UTs to help people across the country to access the unified emergency services.
